Brickbottom Gallery is pleased to invite you to the Opening Reception of its June exhibition Color Kickstart by artists Dan Hofstadter and Anne Johnstone on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 3 to 6 pm.  The exhibition is curated by Alexandra Rozenman.

Both Dan and Anne began their art training in Boston. Here, at the Brickbottom, they’ll display a duo show of recent paintings. For both, color is central from the very outset, emerging out of darkness as a revelation of emotion and expanding spontaneously into expressive shapes. In this kickstarted kind of work, color may be scribbled, scumbled, ragged, or contrasted with cerebral pencil strokes. The viewer senses the artist’s hands and whole body involved in this playful work.

Experience this yourself. On Saturday, June 7, 3-6 pm, both artists will meet and greet you at the Opening Reception. And they will host a Q & A session with a discussion on artmaking.

The show will run between June 5 – July 12, 2025.

Brickbottom Gallery is open Thursday-Saturday, 3-5 pm.
