 FAQs

  • Nope! Whether you rent or own, you can host an artist.

  • Absolutely. Not every artist needs a giant wall—some just need a table, a small corner, or an entryway.

  • Not unless you want to! Many hosts like to visit other studios with their friends and family during the weekend. Some hosts leave for the entire weekend! You and your Affiliate Artist can make a plan that works for both of you.

  • Yes! If you have a lot of space, we recommend hosting 1, 2, or even more artists. We can also work with the artists to figure out a good way to divide your space so it works for them.

  • That depends on what your preference is. We ask that your front door be kept open during Open Studios. If you have a pet that is likely to get out, we recommend bringing them to stay with a friend or family, putting them in a separate part of your space, or building a barrier.

  • Only if you want them to! Many artists have stands that they can use to show their art. Some only need a table. We’ll make sure to pair you with someone that is a good fit for your space.

  • If you have already spoken to an artist that you would like to host, that’s great! Let us know in the form when you sign up.

Otherwise, let us know if you have any preferences for the type of artist that you’d like to host, and we’ll do our best to pair you with someone that matches. We ask that you be flexible as we go through the matchmaking process.

  • That depends on what you’re comfortable with. We encourage you to block off spaces that you do not want guests to go into with signage, closed doors, ribbon, caution tape, or any other tools that you think will help. Typically our guests are respectful, but there are always those few that can be extra nosy. We also encourage you to hide valuables and medications if you are worried about theft.

We encourage you to work with your affiliate artist to let them know where people can and can’t go in your unit.

  • That’s completely dependent on your preference. There are public restrooms on the first floor of the Brickbottom Cannery and at Triangle Cafe. Please encourage visitors to use those spaces if you do not feel comfortable opening up your bathroom to strangers.

We ask that you let affiliate artists use your restroom.

  • Like all living things, our artists thrive on sunlight, water, and nutrients. That being said, you are not required to provide these things for them.

We encourage you to offer them water or something to drink, as well as let them know where they can store their lunch if they need a bit of space in your refrigerator.
