Statement / Bio
A versatile and immeasurably creative artist, Carol E. Moses began working in watercolor, then drawing, and also some printmaking, and then word-paintings. Ridiculously productive and continually original, she has created a large body of work including somber and serious projects, contemplative but approachable inquiries, and glad-to-be-alive painting compositions capturing moods, season, and reflections. Her painting, drawing, and printmaking work is mostly nonrepresentational.
There is also a collection of original pieces, of written word-with-painting, called word-paintings, reprinted in mini-poster format. In recent years, she has presented a very fine B&W photo portrait and interview series, and has completed a second series in Iceland. Her work is collected by first-time collectors, by other artists, and by discerning art patrons. For those who still write by hand, Moses offers a clever boxed set of notecards, reproduced from recent paintings and drawings.
