Recent experimental iPhone scans from Los Angeles and the Northeast Corridor, by Rosamond and Dennis Purcell
Opening Reception: Sunday, January 28, 2018, 3-5pm
Three years ago, Rosamond and Dennis Purcell discovered the unpredictable images the iPhone captures while in motion, and ever since they have been using it to scan the avenues of Los Angeles, the sidewalks of Somerville, the highways of the mid-west, and along the tracks of the Northeast Corridor. These photographs present unsettled architecture, inverted perspectives, ghostly transformations of familiar machines,, as well as the strange beauty of neglected corners and surfaces that pass us by.
